Bye BAFTA. Hello Oscar.....

Sigh The preparation for major events always seems to hold more excitement than the events themselves. From the exhilarating matches of the Australian Open to the romantic fervor of Valentine's Day, and then onto the glitz and glamour of the Emmy Awards followed by the BAFTA ceremony, each moment is anticipated with bated breath and endless speculation.

As I watched the thrilling matches unfold during the Australian Open, the anticipation was palpable. And then came the shocking exit of Novak Djokovic, a moment that left tennis fans around the world stunned and reeling. Disheartened by his departure, I made the difficult decision to stop watching the Australian Open altogether. Instead, I turned to the comfort of movies, and binged on serials and movies, la incredibilia on various OTT platforms.

But the entertainment extravaganza didn't end there. As Valentine's Day approached, the air was filled with romance and anticipation. Couples exchanged heartfelt gestures and declarations of love, while singles embraced the opportunity to celebrate self-love and friendship. Yet, amidst the flurry of red hearts and candlelit dinners, there lingered a sense of fleetingness, as if the true magic of the day lay in the anticipation leading up to it rather than the day itself.

Then came Emmy Awards, a celebration of the best and brightest in television. India and Shankar Mahadevan and gang opened their account in the Emmy Awards Department. India was all agog. For one day. Then the Elections 2024 took center stage again. India.

And then came the Super Bowl, an annual spectacle of sportsmanship and entertainment. As the teams battled it out on the field and the halftime show dazzled audiences around the world, I couldn't help but get swept up in the excitement. Yet, amidst the cheers and celebrations, there was a sense of impermanence, as if the thrill of the game would soon fade into memory. And it did. Boy, it did!!!

the BAFTA , glitter and all
BAFTA AWARDS

Then came the BAFTA , glitter and all. A night of cinematic excellence and artistic achievement. As the winners were announced and the speeches were made, I found myself swept away by the magic of it all. Cillian Murphy's riveting performance in "Oppenheimer" earned him the award for Best Actor, while Emma Stone's captivating portrayal in "Poor Things" secured her the Leading Actress award. Christopher Nolan's visionary direction in "Oppenheimer" was recognized with the Best Director award, further solidifying the film's place in cinematic history. For me Cillian will always be the Peaky Blinders guy. Period.

Yet, amidst the applause and accolades, there was a sense of finality, as if the excitement of the event had already begun to fade into memory. As I reflect on these major events, I can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the anticipation and excitement that preceded them. For it is in the anticipation, the preparation, and the buildup that the true magic lies. And while the events themselves may come and go, the memories of the anticipation will linger on, reminding us of the excitement and exhilaration of the journey.
