29 June has become an iconic day for all Indians.

All cricket-crazy Indians.

After too many upsets, not for India of course, they just blazed a trail at every level, the final is finally set to be played between India and South Africa.

What made India happy though was the elimination of Pakistan at a very early stage.

The fact that Australia was defeated by Afghanistan made Indians and almost all cricket crazy fans very very happy. Let's insert South East Asia before cricket.

Many like me were upset that New Zealand lost the battle very early. We like kiwifruit and Kiwis.

That brings us to another strong team, the England team that lost like a pack of cards in a wicket storm. Pun in, ten dead!

Sorry, couldn’t help that!

If only someone like Gareth managed the English cricket team too!

No, we won't discuss Euro Cup.

Much as we would like to.

With Wimbledon looming large how can we not, not talk about the Euro Cup?

The issue is that too many sporting events are happening at very short intervals!

We were for a brief while surprised that Rashid Khan was playing for Afghanistan.

and Sam Curran, the old man cute boy, playing for England raised our brows. Wasn’t he a CSK player????

When T20 World Cup happens close on the heels of the Indian Premier League, this is what happens!

Oh and Wimbledon and Tennis does bring us to the quintessential release of Federer documentary about retirement. While the whole world did feel sad about this retirement saga of Roger, guess who is a total EMO on this? The protagonist himself!

I like the way he cries at the drop of a hat. Without fail and always, when he cries, I cry too!!!!

Now now now.

Who will lift the cup….

From a very basic fan of cricket, who was forced to watch the game by the cricket-crazy hubby, I must admit that  I am still a rustic fan of cricket, who has no clue what a reverse swing is. I imagine a bowler running backward and throwing the ball behind him. I am not joking.

If you ask me which IPL team I like, my answer would be KKR. Why? You guessed it right Sherlocks…..I love Shah Rukh Khan. Hubby since IPL was born has been a Chennai fan. Every match is watched to understand how that will affect Chennai’s points in the points table.

On World Cup Cricket levels, I of course support India. Not because I find Rohit utterly charming, or Yadav handsome, or even Kohli’s anger cute, its because if I don’t support India, I run into the danger of collective hatred of friends and family.

Today at Barbados, between the two giants, viz, South Africa (why are they called Proteas, any guesses) and India, I think the fair chance to win lies with India.

Number one is Rohit, and the way he spins the ground to his advantage.

Number two, I am inclined to say Rohit again, but I won’t. Number two has to be Yadav and Bhumra with their bowling magic.

Incidentally how many of you noticed the smirk on Rohit’s face when Hardik’s ball was hit for a sixer by, well, someone in the Bangladesh team! He later covered his face with his hands. Good he did that, because the camera was steadily focussing on him! I am sure that cameraman was an Indian!

Let’s wear blue and cheer our boys! They may be men but for us they are our cricket bois!

Guys, the next T20 will have a newer crop of players.

Rohit and virat may not be there most probably.

They may don the roles of coaches or commentators perhaps!

How many of us really missed or thought of Dhoni or Sachin during this T20 WC?

See, that’s life. It moves on.

We didn’t think of them, except during an odd chat perhaps!

Now in a few hours from now the game starts….

Cheers to the ‘men’ in blue!

Bring it home boys…..
